At the core of every AI system lies a fundamental truth: The quality and quantity of data it ingests are paramount to its effectiveness. RAIICE will serve as an accelerator of AI/ML innovation advances through the compilation of high-quality datasets. RAIICE is a partnership model, that brings together industry, National Labs, and academia to ideate on new or existing AI/ ML solutions to hard problems affecting the US. Industry participants will have the opportunity to not only partner with the labs and universities, but will be able to inform what datasets are needed to advance their work. Additionally, early access to the data will be provided to participants ahead of it being released broadly.

RAIICE Framework

Comprised of four phases, the RAIICE cycle will enable partners to ensure that the relevant data is identified for open access.

FORMATION PHASE

  • Invite startups and small businesses to participate
  • Plan for Ideathon

INNOVATION PHASE

  • Hold Ideathon to identify forward-looking concepts to challenge problems
  • Connect industry partners with subject matter experts from the labs to consult on technical roadmapping and other needs identified in Ideathon

DATA PHASE

  • Identification and compilation of datasets

What is an Ideathon?

Inspired by the hackathon construct, the RAIICE Ideathon will provide the opportunity to network and ideate with leading subject matter experts and researchers in AI on a specific topic and challenge problem as it applies to a possible new innovation in AI/ ML or an existing technology.
