Cured Properties
Curing Properties
Composition
- 100 pbw digylcidyl ether of bisphenol A (Epon 828)
- 20 pbw aromatic amine curing agent Ancamine Z
- Cured 24 hours at 93C
- Tg of fully cured 828/Z is ~170C.
- For isothermal cure, reaction quenches when Tg exceeds the cure temperature.
- Tg can only achieve about 25C above the cure temperature, so cure at 93C yields Tg of ~ 118C.
- Determination of fully cure Tg required higher temperature post cure.
- Since 93C cure is incomplete, excursions above 93C for characterization will result in continued cure.
- Therefore, a master curve cannot be obtained and characterization of G’, CTE, and Cp above Tg of “as-cured” material is not valid.
