Making history for 75 years, and Family Day

Enterprise Information Management, Communications, Facilities, Protocol and others worked together on Sandia’s yearlong 75th anniversary celebration, “Making History, Shaping the Future.” Activities included historical talks, a panel of former directors, a time capsule, a banner at the Albuquerque Sunport and a museum exhibit. Publications featured an updated Sandia history book, an audiobook, a social media campaign and Lab News stories. Family Day connected 15,000 employees, friends and families to Sandia’s mission and history through engaging activities held in New Mexico, California and at remote sites. • ESD, 4000, 9000

Contract Audit streamlines subcontract oversight

By embracing a risk-based approach to subcontract auditing, the Contract Audit team successfully reduced audit hours by 35%, improving management of critical subcontracts. This established Sandia as a leader in ensuring subcontractor cost allowability, providing assurance for 268% more subcontract dollars, compared to the previous year. The rise in proactive audit requests, especially through Special Management Reviews, made up 26% of the internal audit projects initiated in fiscal year 2024, which reflects the Labs’ commitment to continuous improvement and effective risk mitigation through self-assessment. • ESD

New cyberforensics lab enhances investigations

To strengthen investigative capabilities and fill forensic gaps, the Sandia Office of Counterintelligence created the DOE’s first Counterintelligence Cyber Forensic Laboratory, designed to support the DOE counterintelligence and counterterrorism mission. The cyberforensic laboratory gives counterintelligence investigators the ability locally to conduct offline advanced digital searches, research digital media, identify communication channels and analyze contents from emergent threat vectors. All forensic work is conducted within legal authorities and uses investigative best practices, producing results that are shared with counterintelligence partners to promote threat mitigation across the DOE. • ESD
