The 2024 MLDL Workshop focused on two sessions.
Tutorials
Several educational tutorial talks were held over two days. The goal of these tutorials was to bring interested Sandians up to speed on common machine learning terms and techniques, and to provide enough background and context so that attendees would be able to attend and meaningfully engage with the main Workshop talks and FY2024 Hackathon.
The general audience for this activity is ideally someone with a passing understanding of machine learning or data science. Generally, math or computer science backgrounds are not necessary. It is recommended to attend “A Total Beginner’s Introduction to Machine Learning” on the first day to get the background needed for the rest of the tutorials and the Workshop.
Hackathon
The first 2 sessions focused on first setting up a Hackathon development environment, and providing an introduction to the Hackathon problems and how scoring would be calculated. Participation is welcome even if participants have no prior experience with machine learning or coding. Teaming up with participants with some coding experience will make participation easier.
For 2024, the Tutorials and Hackathon were open only to members of the Sandia workforce. Please contact the MLDL Workshop committee if you have any questions here and check back for 2025!
