Southern Company Storage Integration Study
This study will quantify the value of four energy storage applications for its operating companies in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi. The joint DOE/Sandia and Southern Company study will be a two-pronged effort: one focused on the entire balancing area of one operating company and the other will study specific feeders to identify T&D storage applications. The study findings will provide guidance in Southern Company’s decisions to procure, implement, integrate and manage energy storage technologies at the transmission and distribution level.
Nevada Energy Storage Integration Study
This study will determine the benefits and cost effectiveness of using various types of energy storage in the NV Energy Balancing Area to meet regulation needs and also to defer T&D asset capital improvements. Study will also consider controls methodologies for energy storage which will best manage concurrent NV Energy system issues. The joint DOE/Sandia and NV Energy study will be starting using the results of a PV integration study mandated by the State PUC. Those results will inform the system wide storage analysis. The study findings will provide guidance in NV Energy’s decisions to procure, implement, integrate and manage energy storage technologies at the transmission and distribution level.
