Sandia National Laboratories researcher Stan Atcitty recently coauthored a chapter titled “Battery Energy Storage System” in Power Electronics for Renewable and Distributed Energy Systems, a volume published last July by Springer-Verlag London. This chapter discusses the various technical components of battery energy storage systems for utility-scale energy storage and how these technical components are interrelated. Atcitty’s coauthors were Jason Neely, David Ingersoll, Abbas Akhil, and Karen Waldrip.
