Biography

Michael Devin joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2021 and is a member of the Wind Energy Computational Sciences Department. He supports platform design optimization and computational hydro-structural analysis for offshore vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs). His research interests include multidisciplinary design optimization, novel wake control strategies, and uncertainty quantification for floating offshore wind applications.

Michael received his bachelor’s and master’s of science degrees in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University, where he developed a reliability-based design optimization algorithm for experimental mooring concepts and numerical models for a real-time hybrid system of a floating offshore wind turbine.
