Biography

Kevin Moore is a member of the Wind Energy Computational Sciences Department at Sandia National Laboratories. He currently leads aero-elastic and hydro-elastic control co-design, optimization and analysis for a wide variety of applications across the Labs, as well as the development of the OWENS open-source software. His research interests include multidisciplinary design optimization, enabling new and advanced concepts and experimental validation. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University in Utah, specializing in experimental test methods during his undergraduate work and design optimization of aero-elastic systems during his graduate work. Before joining Sandia, Kevin worked in commercial aviation and participated in many facets of aircraft supplemental type certification, weapons system safety analysis, flight test engineering, software qualification and structural substantiation.
