Biography

Jon Berg is the technical lead for the SWiFT facility’s wind turbine control system and related software system in the Wind Energy Design and Experimentation Department. Much of his work is at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software systems—creating an integrated system design that will meet the research objective. In years past, he was the lead developer for NuMAD v2.0, which is an open-source software tool for wind turbine blade design and analysis. Jon has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in electrical engineering and an master’s degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on mechatronic systems and controls; both degrees were received from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
