Biography
Javier Hernández-Alvídrez was born in Delicias Chihuahua, México. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering and telecommunications from Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies at Monterrey NL, México; where he graduated with honors. He also holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University at Las Cruces NM, USA. He worked for Thomson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA) and Delphi Automotive Systems, where he developed a background in power electronics as a Hardware Design Engineer. Later, he moved towards software testing and automation. He also worked as a full-year Intern and later as a postdoc at Sandia National Laboratories, where he conducted research in the areas of: DC to AC converters, integration of solar inverters into the grid, modeling of inverters under fault scenarios, and protection schemes for micro-grids. Currently, he works as a Senior R&D engineer at Sandia National Laboratories.
