Biography
Dr. Brandon Ennis joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2014 and is a member of the Wind Energy Computational Sciences Department. He has supported multiple projects performing rotor structural design as the aeroelastics lead for the National Rotor Testbed and offshore vertical-axis wind turbine projects, wind turbine blade structural and material optimization as Principal Investigator for the Optimized Carbon Fiber project, atmospheric data analysis for the SWiFT site and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Mesoscale to Microscale Coupling project, and SWiFT experimental load and data analysis. Brandon currently leads the offshore and composites projects in the department with a research focus on turbine system design, analysis, and optimization.
Brandon received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from Purdue University (Boiler Up!), where he developed and operated a wind tunnel for testing novel wind turbine rotor designs and a reconfigurable outdoor experimental wind farm facility to study array wake interaction.
