Bioenergy Cybersecurity Workshop presentations now available

Developing and manufacturing biofuels involve automated, networked technologies at many stages of the process. Just as we secure our computers at work or home, how do we ensure that these technologies—and the biofuel production they support—are protected against hacking, malware, and cyberattacks?

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO), in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories, held the Bioenergy Cybersecurity Workshop on September 11, 2023, to advance the security of the rapidly emerging U.S. bioproduction infrastructure. Attendees learned about the importance and relevance of cybersecurity within the industry and participated in a facilitated discussion to identify and define the additional technologies and research needed for cybersecure bioenergy production.

Presentations from the Bioenergy Cybersecurity Workshop are now available offering perspectives on the current landscape and state of cybersecurity practice within the industry. Download the presentations today, and sign up to be notified when the workshop report is released.
