The Department of Energy Office of Science Director Asmeret Asefaw Berhe and several of her staff members visited the Sandia National Laboratories-managed Atmospheric Radiation Measurement user facility at the North Slope of Alaska in Utqiaġvik (formerly Barrow), Alaska, from September 19 to 21, 2023. They were joined by DOE Arctic Energy Office Director Erin Whitney and representatives from her office, as well as staff from Los Alamos and Oak Ridge national labs. The visit was hosted by Rob Leland, director of the Sandia Climate Change Security Center, and Mark Ivey, former manager of the ARM North Slope of Alaska user facility and senior engineer at Sandia.
