Sandia National Laboratories is sponsoring the Earth Day Festival NM 2024 event on Sunday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque. Join Sandia in this celebration of our planet and discover ways all of us can take action to protect it.
This family-friendly event will feature a variety of educational exhibits, demonstrations and hands-on activities. In addition to having a Sandia booth, Rob Leland, director of Sandia’s Climate Change Center, will take part in a panel discussion alongside U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and executives from PNM and Nusenda Credit Union on New Mexico’s sustainable future.
Registration is required for this event and free during the month of March.
First held in 1970, Earth Day is officially celebrated each year in the U.S. on April 22. This year’s theme is “Planet vs. Plastics,” recognizing that increasing levels of plastic pollution could impact the environment, people and the economy.
