Sandia marine energy researchers to host FOSWEC webinar

Join Sandia National Laboratories’ (Sandia) Water Power program as it hosts, “FOSWEC Digital Twin: A Virtual Real-Time Model of As-Built Wave Energy Hardware,” on Dec. 17, 2021, from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. MT.

Sandia National Laboratories has partnered with Evergreen Innovations and Oregon State University to develop a “digital twin” model that captures the dynamics of the FOSWEC and the sensor/actuator interface of the hardware. By prototyping their control systems and commands with the FOSWEC digital twin, researchers can ensure smooth execution of the actual FOSWEC device, which is available at Oregon State University for use in research and testing. Additionally, researchers may use the FOSWEC digital twin as they would any other numerical model of a wave energy converter.
