Sandia issues Request for Information on advanced solar energy system deployment

Sandia National Laboratories has released a Request for Information (RFI) inviting comments on the deployment of an advanced solar energy system. The deadline for responses has been extended to Friday, July 21, 2023.

Introduced in 2021, the advanced solar energy for mission assurance and decarbonization concept seeks to provide Sandia’s Albuquerque operations and Kirtland Air Force Base with a carbon-free, resilient energy supply. The goal is also to demonstrate at scale, and thereby accelerate the commercialization of, specific energy technologies.

This RFI will be used to assess industry interest and gather information that will help guide future strategies for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of 100 MW or larger of advanced solar generation resources with long-duration energy storage and a connecting microgrid. Comments are sought on the proposed development, the technologies involved, and any associated execution challenges.

The Notice ID for this opportunity is SNL_SPEC_5-23-2023. Please contact Al Schneider, aschnei@sandia.gov, with any and all responses or questions to the RFI.
