This fall, the Department of Energy announced funding for several projects aimed at improving their Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM) to enhance climate prediction and efforts to curb climate change. Three Sandians are part of the team working on one of the projects being led by University of New Mexico Professor Emerita Deborah Sulsky.
The team will work with Sulsky on implementing a new sea-ice model for use in DOE’s E3SM. The new model will build on the MPAS-Seaice model developed by scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Learn more about the team and how their work seeks to advance our understanding of climate change.
