Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program

The Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program promotes next-generation education and development in STEM-related career paths that align with the current and future missions of the Department of Energy. Learn more about the program and view all MSIPP opportunities.

  • The goal of the CREPES program is to prepare a sustainable pathway for highly trained students to enter into the National Security Enterprise workforce. CREPES interns will carry out transformative and applicable research, gaining practical experience and training in the area of electrical engineering, with an emphasis on electric power and energy systems engineering, nuclear engineering, and related cyber and information security issues.

  • The CHRES program provides summer internship opportunities to undergraduates, doctoral students, and faculty from four Hispanic-Serving Institutions. CHRES supports the Department of Energy’s goal of building a sustainable pathway for next generation of engineers and scientists from the Hispanic community. Institutions: Universidad Ana G. Méndez–Gurabo, Universidad de Puerto Rico–Mayagüez, University of Texas at El Paso, and University of New Mexico

  • Tribal Energy Security Internships

    The Department of Energy Office of Indian Energy, with support and coordination from Sandia National Laboratories, offers a college student internship program for current full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are familiar with Native American culture and tribal issues.

  • Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs student interns support tribal energy projects and assist a cross-disciplinary team to perform specific technical tasks in the field and at Sandia.
