Biography
Cesar R Castillo, PhD, is a postdoctoral appointee in the Water Power Technologies Program at Sandia National Laboratories. Cesar’s research focuses on the use of numerical modeling to characterize the performance and environmental effects of marine and hydrokinetic devices, and on the development of portals and repositories for information used by the marine renewable energy industry.
Cesar has a bachelor’s in environmental science from the University of New Mexico, a master’s in water management and hydrological science from Texas A&M University, and a PhD in geography from Texas A&M University.
Cesar’s doctoral work focused on floodplain hydrology and geomorphology that involved using hydrodynamic modeling, geospatial/morphometric modeling, remote sensing, and network analysis. During the pursuit of his PhD, Cesar also worked on numerous projects that involved extensive use of field mapping/surveying, flow measurement using acoustic Doppler current profilers, the development of GIS databases/servers, and the development of web-based GIS applications.
