Sandia to resume normal operations on KAFB Saturday, March 16, at 5 a.m.

Sandia will resume normal operations at Kirtland Air Force Base on Saturday, March 16, at 5 a.m., following a power outage on the base.

Although power has been restored on base, KAFB is still working to restore various systems.

The power outage did not directly impact Sandia facilities, infrastructure, or networks on the base. The cause of the outage was an equipment failure at an electrical substation on KAFB.

The closure did not affect Sandia facilities off the base.
