The Sandia Women’s Connection (SWC) hosts an annual awards ceremony to recognize young women from local Livermore, California, high schools for their accomplishments in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) subjects. Each year, SWC asks teachers from local high schools to nominate two female students, one for outstanding achievement in math and one for outstanding achievement in science.
Sandia hopes to highlight for young women their potential in STEM fields and introduce them to successful Sandia women scientists and engineers, as well as to our vibrant internship program. During and after the ceremony, students are paired with Sandia mentors who encourage their future studies and answer any questions they might have.
The SWC Math & Science Awards are given to young women during their junior year of high school so that they can include the award on their college admission and scholarship applications.
