Michael (Mike) Hazen is a Senior Associate and Senior Advisor for Longenecker & Associates, Inc. In this role he serves, supports, and advises the company and its national security clients on the company’s core capabilities and competencies in mission assurance, regulatory assurance, project delivery and operations support.
Michael is the former Associate Laboratory Director for Environment, Safety, Health, Quality, Safeguards and Security at Los Alamos National Laboratory, with responsibility for protecting people, the environment, resources, and information at a highly specialized and complex scientific and nuclear site.
Prior to joining Los Alamos, Michael served as Vice President of Infrastructure Operations and Chief Security Officer at Sandia National Laboratories for more than a decade. In this role he was responsible for facilities, safeguards and security, emergency management and environment, and safety and health.
Previously, he served in the Air Force for more than 31 years. His first Air Force assignment was as a Strategic Air Command enlisted security policeman and he finished his military career as the Director of Security for Space Command, which included responsibilities for the safeguards and security of the ICBM fleet. He commanded a wing (base), a group, and three squadrons.
Michael earned a Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Seminar XXI, a Graduate Certificate from the University of Southern California, a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Golden Gate University, and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Maryland. He also attended, in residence, the Air War College and the Air Command and Staff College.
