Department of Energy Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan
This plan outlines the Department of Energy’s (DOE) direction and high-level environmental goals it wishes to achieve, reiterating many goals set forth in the Executive Order described above. It also calls for a Site Sustainability Plan that describes how Sandia is supporting the DOE’s plan.
Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation
This is a supplement to the Federal Acquisition Regulations that includes sustainable acquisition requirements and is included in Sandia’s prime contract with the DOE.

New Mexico Environment Department: RCRA Waste Permit
Under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) waste permit issued to Sandia National Laboratories by the state Environment Department, we must perform these waste minimization activities:
- Train the workforce regarding source reduction and recycling of hazardous waste, and
- Report a summary of waste minimization efforts that could be implemented at Sandia over the next five years.
