Team Specialty Products awarded Sandia contract for developmental testing gages
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Sandia National Laboratories has awarded a $48,000 contract to locally owned Team Specialty Products (TSP) Corp. to provide developmental testing gages to Sandia.
Within the next two months, TSP Corporation will develop Manganin Foil Gages (MFG) in support of Sandias neutron generator manufacturing operations.
This contract represents the first step toward qualifying the first small, local supplier for producing parts to rigorous standards under requirements defined in the Department of Energys Quality Criteria, QC-1 quality program, said Sandia Contracting Representative Al Lucero. This means another critical capability in support of Sandias mission will be available right here in New Mexico.
Lucero explained that when TSP obtains QC-1 certification, it will be one of the few small, locally owned suppliers in Albuquerque with this distinction and capability. Sandias Purchasing and Quality Assessment departments are helping TSP meet QC-1.
This contract is an excellent opportunity for TSP to practice the quality assurance program that will eventually allow us to be certified, said TSP President Dave Rice. We look forward to being in a position to compete for future gage production business.
TSP has been providing research and development services for government and private industry since 1985. TSP and its 64 employees are located at the Sandia Science & Technology Park.
Sandia is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy under contract DE-AC04-94AL85000. With main facilities in Albuquerque, N.M., and Livermore, Calif., Sandia has major research and development responsibilities in national security, energy and environmental technologies, and economic competitiveness.
