Summer | High School | Undergraduate | Graduate | Cooperative Education
The Summer Technical Student Internship Program at Sandia National Laboratories is designed to help Sandia Laboratories' meet its future workforce needs. Opportunities are available for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science, math, engineering, technology, computer science and MIS disciplines to integrate their academic program with work-related experience.
We encourage all academically eligible students to apply, and we actively recruit to provide Sandia with a diverse pool of intern candidates.
From extensive hands-on research experiences in a wide variety of scientific and technological disciplines, to providing advanced laboratory resources, and furnishing professional development education, the program challenges you to reach your full potential by offering you a quality internship appointment as a vital member of a Sandia research team.
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours as an under-graduate or 9 credit hours as a graduate student at an accredited university or college in a science, math, engineering, technology or business major. College level Juniors and above will only be assigned to positions directly related to their field of study. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA for technical and business assignments or a 2.5 GPA for clerical or laborer positions. Summer students are considered and/or hired based on review of their previous Fall semester/quarter transcripts and must also demonstrate full time enrollment for the Spring semester/quarter prior to their summer internship. Year-round students are considered and/or hired based on review of their most recent transcript.
In addition to regular work assignments at the intern's research post, all participants are invited to submit an abstract and technical paper describing work performed and to formally present these findings at the annual Internship Symposium.
